Reading Between the Lines - Martinez Won’t Play
Bo Pelini was non-committal in his weekly press conference Monday. But one quote seemed awfully revealing about the status of Taylor Martinez for this week's homecoming game against Illinois.
Said Pelini, “That’s what I’m talking about. I know you can throw when your foot is bothering you but you have to be able to put your foot in the ground and go. That’s a big part of our offense. Until he shows that he is ready, willing and able to do that, that’s when you’ll see him.”
The quote tells us two things. First, Martinez is not yet to where he can put his foot in the ground and go and that Pelini won't play him until that's true. The likelihood of that happening after he hasn't even been able to practice seems unlikely.
Like our government, until further notice Martinez is shut down.
