Do you get the VERSUS sports channel?

The Big 12 just announced that some games this season will be carried by VERSUS (f.k.a. OLN). This raises an obvious question: Do I even get the VERSUS channel?

Well, we did the leg work for you. Read on to find out if you get the VERSUS channel in your area.

If you have DIRECTV or DISH Network you're in luck. The rest of us need to cross our fingers. You can enter your zip code on VERSUS' web site and they'll tell you if your local cable company carries the channel.

Here is the coverage for the twenty largest cities in Nebraska.

Sorry Grand Island, North Platte, Norfolk and South Sioux City. You're out of luck unless you have a dish.

If you don't get VERSUS and want your cable company to pick it up, give them a call or contact VERSUS directly. You've still got a few months to convince them!

By the way, the only Big 12 game that has been announced so far is Iowa St. vs Iowa. There's no guarantee that the Huskers will play on VERSUS, but better safe than sorry.

Omaha's Qwest Choice TV carries Versus on channel 49.

Thanks Mike. I got my info from the VERSUS website and didn't search all 53 Omaha zip codes, so that may explain why it didn't come up for me.

FYI... In Minneapolis, MN Comcast Digital has Versus on Channel 68.

I get "Versus" too, fortunately. To me, no big deal. It reminds me of when some games were on "FX". As long as FOX doesn't limit their games to Fox Sports Midwest, because I'll miss those.

Jason, thanks for the info!

Never heard of it before, but as it turns out, I do have Versus Sports right there in my cable package--out here in Western MA(Berkshires, covered by Time Warner Cable).

Thanks for the pointer, I'll be looking for their games this fall.

VS is great for more than just Big 12 football. They have the best hockey coverage of any sports channel now. Husker football is number one in my book, but Hockey is a close number two of my favorite sports.

Doesn't look like VS is in HD yet, so personally I would hesitate to favor them over our regional coverage of the Boston Bruins(Sox and Pats, FTM)on NESN which is in HD. Plus NESN has some of the best babe reporters I've ever seen. Anyway, it's only in New England.

Why did I say this---who knows? :)

Looking forward to BR games any and everywhere they may appear.

I've got a combo of ESPN, FoxCS pkg, and ESPN Gameplan. Throw in ABC, and now VS, and we could be talking 9-10 NE games on the tube next year--maybe only excluding the Ball ST. and ISU games(somebody always seems to pick up the KU game). With CCG and bowl, that puts it up to 11-12 possibilities!

woohoo!

Upgrading from a 26" Sharp Aquos to a 42" today, in preparation for the upcoming fall fb season: some things just have to be well thought out long in advance. HD is the sh&^%t, bay-beh!

Classic Adidas 'N' cap on; Black Shirts beer cooley ready; remotes in place; o.k. let's git r rollin'!

...waiting, waiting...

Versus carried some of their NHL games in ,a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versus_(TV_channel)#Versus_HD">HD...no word as to whether football will be in HD...
