The Even Hotter Seat
After what could be considered an embarrassing performance on the field Saturday against UCLA, Bo Pelini has had a couple of other turns towards even more embarrassment today. His press conference with the media today included reflections and also a response to a question about Tommie Frazier's statement that much of the coaching staff should be fired. Taken out of context on twitter, Pelini's words have ballooned into so much more. Then, came the big (F) bomb.
In case you just happen to be online and only read BRN for your Husker news, recordings of Pelini surfaced on deadspin, where he "emphatically" gave his opinion about fans and media after the Ohio State game in 2011. The profanity laden rant has led to a statement of disappointment from both Chancellor Harvey Perlman and AD Shawn Eichorst. Pelini also made a short statement of apology after the recording was released.
There are plenty of questions that will need to be answered in the coming days.
- Why now? We know that the recording came with the statement that it was because of the on field performance that the owner of the recording released it. But it seems like there is more to the story.
- Does the University make a decision on whether to keep Pelini now?
- If no decision is made now, how much does this weigh into any off season decisions after performance considerations?
- Will Pelini even be able to (or try to) alter his behavior on and off the field as the most visible representative of the Nebraska football program?
