Mixon Comes Aboard

Nebraska added another recruit over the weekend in defensive end Dimarya Mixon.  Mixon had previously committed to Missouri but changed his mind with a visit to Lincoln.

The Texas product is listed at 6'3" and 265 lbs.  He'd previously visited Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Arizona State in addition to Mizzou.  He brings the count for the class of 2013 to 25, though the Huskers would still have room for at least one more since the Huskers can count an early arriving player toward the class of 2012.

Maryland cornerback Jacquille Veii who visited this weekend along with Mixon and Louisiana wide receiver Devin Scott will announce his decision on signing day for either Nebraska, Iowa, or Maryland.  Veii could return kicks and might potentially be used at receiver.

Texas offensive tackle Dwayne Johnson also is still on the fence between Nebraska and Arkansas.  He's apparently ruled out other programs (like Oklahoma) that were vying for him.  Previously, he'd given some indication that he didn't want to wait until signing day to make his decision.  Only two days remain though so he won't beat that deadline by much.

The Huskers appear  likely to bring in their biggest class since Bo Pelini's hastily assembled first one in 2008.  Stay tuned.

That is a fantastic late addition to the class. This kid is one of the top 50 players on the state of Texas.

At 6’3’‘, he has the leverage to play inside for NU. It depends on how heavy he can get and how the coaches want to use him.

Nebraska cannot get enough “big people” in my opinion. After the lack of depth at the end of last season, its pretty obvious that we need to stockpile DL talent more than ever.

For those who are curious, here is Mixon’s highlight film:

With such a talent laden class, only a fool would find a reason to be negative. Whatever, let those folks sulk. I’m going to enjoy watching all the talent develop and mature and scream myself hoarse in the stadium on gameday. Welcome to busker nation gentlemen! GBR
