Huskers to Host Five

While things could change last minute, as of this writing five recruits are expected to be visiting campus this weekend.  Maryland linebacker (and NU commit) Marcus Newby, Florida cornerback Jospeh Boaz, Texas offensive tackle Dwayne Johnson  and junior college offensive tackles Matt Finnin (Illinois) and Chongo Kondolo (California) were expected in Lincoln.  In addition to solidifying Newby, the Huskers are in good position to add a commit or two this weekend.

Kondolo has been considered to be on the fence between Tennessee and Nebraska.  Last weekend saw him visit Knoxville and so you might expect a decision soon after he visits Lincoln.  He may not have entirely ruled out Florida State or Fresno State (he currently resides in Fresno) either.  Kondolo will have three seasons to play two.

NU will be the third of four schools that Boaz has been slated to visit.  The others so far were Purdue and Kentucky and after this weekend's visit he's headed for Cincinnati.  He must not be expecting another dine and dash from Tommy Tuberville.  Just based on pedigree and tradition of the programs, you'd have to like Nebraska's chances against the other schools on his visit list.

Going on pedigree, you'd expect Oklahoma to be the main competition for the lengthy (6'8")Finnin.   He visited the school last week and made prior trips to Maryland and Kansas.  After Nebraska he's set to visit Marshall which seems surprisingly appealing to Finnin.  He has just two seasons to play two and no doubt is hoping to see playing time right away.

Johnson is only part way through his visits.  He's seen Purdue and Washington State.  Next up is NU, Oklahoma, and Arkansas all squeezed in before signing day.  Though his dance card has been in flux.  It's also appeared that he might visit Baylor after Nebraska and skip Arkansas.

There's a fair amount of competition for all of these players, but getting them on campus gives NU a good chance of adding one or two to the class.  Stay tuned.
