Chongo Kondolo Commits to NU
Nebraska got a nice recruiting boost this afternoon, when Fresno City Community College offensive lineman Chongo Kondolo made a verbal pledge to Nebraska. Kondolo becomes the 23rd member of the 2013 recruiting class for Nebraska, and the fifth offensive lineman in the group (assuming you count long snapper Gabriel Miller in that group). Kondolo is rated as a 3-star prospect by both Rivals and Scout. He has an impressive offer list that includes Florida State, Tennessee and Oklahoma. At 6'4'' and 295 pounds, Kondolo projects as an interior lineman, rather than as a tackle at NU. He will be in the mix at either center or guard next year. He has three years to play two seasons, so a redshirt campaign is not out of the question. But, typically a junior college player is brought in to a program with the idea that they can contribute pretty quickly. From a fan perspective, this young man is already contributing to the "All-Name Team". Can you imagine the joy that many folks would have from yelling "CHONGO" after this young man makes a knock-down block? That makes it a scholarship especially well spent.
