Blogpoll revisited
As you may recall, we at the Big Red Network have been invited to vote in a weekly college football top 25 poll at http://mgoblog.blogspot.com/
While I'm tempted to leave my second preseason ballot unchanged from last week (the 2004 presidential election taught us that Americans don't like “flip-floppers), we were encouraged to solicit feedback and seek to improve our rankings. So here are the revised rankings:
| Rank | Team | Delta |
|---|---|---|
Southern Cal | --
West Virginia | --
Michigan | --
LSU | --
Texas | --
Florida | --
Ohio State | --
Louisville | --
Virginia Tech | --
California | --
Oklahoma | --
TCU | 1
Wisconsin | 1
Nebraska | 2
Boston College | --
Hawaii | 1
Georgia | 5
Penn State | --
Rutgers | --
Texas A&M | --
Auburn | --
Florida State | --
Tennessee | 1
Boise State | 1
Arkansas | 1
I read this week that Georgia has only eight scholarship offensive linemen. Since they have a lot to replace on defense, I felt I was giving them too much credit and knocked them down a bit. If given truth serum, I wouldn't say Nebraska would finish as high as #14 but aside from USC every team has warts. And no one is giving Boston College as much love as I am. Between their star running back and manageable schedule, I felt I probably couldn't keep Arkansas out. USA Today can call the Bruins a BCS team, but after 6 losses a year ago (including the bowl game versus FSU) I need proof before I promote them into the top 25. I also know I've been hard on a Tennessee team that could go 10-3 (but I'm thinking 9-4).
