Active Signing Day for Huskers

This year's National Signing Day looks to be the most intriguing and active day the Huskers have had in Bo Pelini's tenure so far.  With at least 5 big time prospects holding press conferences throughout the morning and early afternoon, fans of Husker recruiting will have plenty to keep them busy in order to be up to date with each decision.

Here is a complete run down of the recruiting situation as it is known.  Please check back throughout the day for the latest updates.

From the athletic department: LOI’s coming soon!

The unwavering commit since July of 2010, Michael Rose has signed his LOI.  Under Armor bowl player, ESPN top 150 prospect, had 104 tackles and 3 sacks last season.

How fitting that Rose was the first one to sign. Class act, that kid, sticking with his pledge to NU for more than 18 months.

Aaron Curry picked NU over Iowa. That’s a great “early” win for the Huskers on signing day. They needed a DT. Getting Curry demonstrates what a good relationship that the new d-line coach brought with him from Iowa.

Beating a B1G school straight up for a player is like winning twice - one for NU, and one NOT for them.

Rich K gets to count Curry as his first commit!

Alonzo Moore is a Husker!

One suggestion is to sort your table of commits.  Maybe by stars or position or order of signing or at least alphabetical?

Also, so far so good with the recruiting!  Let’s hope the remaining are all “N”!

Sory Isaac, it was sorted at the beginning of the day, but things started happening so fast that I couldn’t keep up.  I’ll get a chance to refresh it in about an hour.

HOLY CRAP….we’re actually getting them ALL!

Tom, where did you get confirmation on Moss, Anderson and McMullen?

Scout indicates they’ve all signed their LOI’s.

huskers.com just reported Z Anderson is N! https://twitter.com/#!/Huskers/status/164757295077662721

Greg McMullen is officially a Husker now with his LOI just coming through!

Devian Shelton went to USC :(  Too bad.  I wish him luck trying to get into the starting lineup…they have some good corners there.

NU could have *really* used Shelton on the roster. Now I fear they will only have one corner in this class (Seisay) and they needed two, preferably three.

Still could get Charles Jackson qualified for that too Darren…so all is not completely lost.  Also, some of our existing corners might step up this year.

I like the diversity of the players, as in relation to all of the different parts of the country they come from. That’s recruiting nationally.

Love the class , any more and its its just adding the cherry to top of the sundae… would have liked to add another DB to the class, but I think we have a lot of talent aready on board in our youngsters.. Charles Jackson, lets get that classroom stuff done , were looking forward to seeing you in a helmet with a beautiful red N on it ..

Peat , Valentine, and any others jump on board while the trains still in the station..

Either way I wish them all well, Good luck boys.. and GO BIG RED!!

dkdevine - I hear ya. NU not only would like to get Jackson on the field, the NEED him on the field.

They could have used him this season, they need him desperately this season and moving forward.

But - based on the track record thus far - I’m not about to count that chicken until it has slowly, slowly, painfully slowly hatched.

Sounds like Stanford got a good recruit! :(

Peat went to Stanford :(

Peat’s selected Stanford.

I figured Peat was a Stanford man several days ago.  Though it would of been nice to have as a husker.  This years recruiting class appears to be a good class even though it will be a smaller class.  We’ll miss a few recruits that we wanted but overall we did good.

We are already making in roads for the 2013 class and that is good because if we can get these players early out that should help in our recruiting.

VV is reported as ‘N’, per Rivals and the JournalStar.

VV added helps alot .. Im really happy with class.. PEat would have been a hell of a get, but after we started recruiting Goodman again last week , I figured the writing was on the wall.. Vincent was our top DT on the board to start the season , and the coaches saw it all the way through.. He had offers from everyone , ALabama, Florida, Ohio State, Illionois, Notre Dame and he chose NU,..  Good Final pick up for the skers.. Who knows maybe we offer Sebastian Smith or pick up another DB recruit.. Also Moore could be looked at as WR, QB or DB so thats a great prospect to have on campus..

Now we can wait and see what CBs Raymond Ford and Anthony Standifer do.

So we still have a couple spots to fill?

We have 1 scholarship for sure, but I don’t know if they are saving it for Charles Jackson.. Also we can add up to 3 extra players on signing day, per Big Ten rules, over what we believe to have in scholarships.. 18 is the number but I believe we can get up to 21 recruits in this class, but we had to let the Big Ten conference know if we were oversiging before .. and what the reasons were..

From the sounds of it we could go as high as 21 this year. We’re sitting at 16 right now without confirmation on Avery Moss. That puts us at 17 (with him) and 18 if Charles Jackson can get in.

David

I believe Raymond Ford was last known to be deciding between UTah , Washington State, and Cal but who knows things change on signing day.. Especially when a teammate is signing with Nu..

Standifer was said to maybe be taking visits after signing day , so who knows with him..

And Its to bad USC came in late for shelton.. it was between us and Washington until then.. Cant blame the kid for wanting to play in his back yard.. Good Luck to both the recruits that chose NU and those that decided to go else where,,

twauto,

Ford went with Cal

twauto22-

I heard the same about Ford as well but word was his family was pushing for Nebraska since his cousin (Thenarse) was “N”. I’d like to see the kid on campus if we can’t get Charles Jackson. Granted Jackson would be preferred over any current target.

You can’t not like stealing from a (new) rival, Michigan. :)

Can’t blame the kid for that. USC is a great program and has done well with DBs. I’m sure until USC came in it was Nebraska.

That sulhod read:You cannot be a Husker fanand boo your own team. Tome, it is that simple.
