Huskers Pass Character Test 0 comments
In the "buildup" (if you can call it that) to this past week's game versus Troy, we at the Big Red Network couldn't help but notice our own lack of enthusiasm for the upcoming game. It sort of concerned us that perhaps the team would be nursing the same USC hangover that we were. Fortunately, when the Huskers took the field, it was clear that they were fully prepared for their gutty, but overmatched foe.
Nebraska Shuts Out Troy, 56-0 0 comments
Nebraska showed no signs of a let down following their loss to Southern California last week in dismantling the Troy Trojans on Saturday night in Lincoln, 56-0. The Cornhuskers compiled nearly 600 yards of total offense and recorded their first shutout of the year in moving their record to 3-1 on the year. Troy falls to 1-3 with all three losses coming on the road to teams from BCS conferences.
Trojans Banged Up Going Into NU Contest 2 comments
Take a look at the injury report released by the Troy athletic department:
"Senior running back Sean Dawkins (knee) and junior safety Sherrod Martin (shoulders) are out and will both likely redshirt. Freshman running back Xavier Walker (knee) continues to be doubtful. Junior Ira Guilford (back) missed the first three games and is questionable. Senior offensive lineman James Gardner suffered a sprained knee in the Florida State game but played against Georgia Tech. Junior linebacker Marcus Richardson suffered a broken collar bone against Georgia Tech, had surgery on Sunday after the game, and is out 4-6 weeks. Senior receiver Smokey Hampton suffered a high ankle sprain against Tech and is probable against Nebraska."
Sizing Up Troy 1 comment
"Hi, I'm Troy (State). You might remember me from such games as Troy State at Lincoln 2001, 2002, or 2003 or such cartoons as Christmas Ape and Christmas Ape goes to Summer Camp".
Okay, now that I've got that out of my system, let me point out that this is not the same team the Huskers saw under Frank Solich. Troy now has a spread offense that uses four wide receivers. Considering that the Huskers greatest weakness is in the secondary, that could mean some tough sledding against the men of Troy.
Those Other Trojans 0 comments
One week after the hotly contested battle between Nebraska and Southern Cal, the Huskers must prepare to again do battle with the Trojans -of Troy University. While the Huskers will either be seeking to refocus after a glorious victory or instead licking their wounds and looking for a get well game, the Trojans will have their own issues to contend with. In the two weeks leading up to the contest with Nebraska, Troy must play at Florida State and at Georgia Tech back-to-back. “Reeling might be the best word to describe the Trojans at that point.
