  • RE: Despite a Bigger Spread, Rutgers Looks Tougher Than Northwestern
Scarier? Their offense: Yes. Their defense: No.

  • RE: NU Running Backs Needs Better Batting Average
Realista, Part of that is our zone blocking scheme...it's not great when they blitz 2 backers every down or crowd the LOS...see, Beck should be passing in the hook zone more to tight ends if backers are blitzing...or doing quick slants from slot receivers away from the blitz. If the opposing …more »

  • RE: NU Running Backs Needs Better Batting Average
Beck has been pretty vanilla on his run plays thus far and opposing teams have blitzed a lot in the middle and stacked the line. I think he'll open up the playbook a bit more this week and our running game will reap the benefits.

  • RE: Florida Atlantic Could Be a Handful
If FAU is a handful, woe to the rest of our season...cuz we'll be in trouble.

  • RE: Braxton Miller Injury Changes Big Ten Race
Braxton is taking a medical redshirt and will be back next year.

  • RE: Braxton Miller Injury Changes Big Ten Race
Actually, there has been no confirmation on his injury...he still has to have an MRI and the team has not commented on this. So, he's not out yet.

  • RE: Pelini's Comments Give Pause
Husker football is so much more than Bo Pelini Admiral. For you to build up a false dichotomy with your comments is really ignorant and not at all fair to the Huskers players nor its fans. You really should just NOT say anything at all.

  • RE: Pelini's Comments Give Pause
No you post off-topic, inflammatory posts. You have ZERO tact. IF you said the things you say on the internet to someone in the line with you at the bank, they'd punch you in the chops. So, get down off your high horse, own up to being a troll and stop …more »

Admiral, you just defined what it means to be a troll. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) Hopefully, we can all steer this dumpster fire of a comment thread back to the original topic of the blog post.

  • RE: Pelini's Comments Give Pause
Johnny Stanton certainly showed the elite 11 QB competition which included Shane Morris and Christian Hackenburg that he could pass didn't he? Just because his football coach in high school didn't have him pass as much as Tommy Armstrong's coach did doesn't mean he's worse at passing the ball. I think …more »

  • RE: Is a Turnover Hangover the Biggest Threat to Prosperity in 2014?
@Realista I never said the article was about the 'marginal turnover rate'...it discusses PERSPECTIVE of Husker fans and how they have changed. • RE: Is a Turnover Hangover the Biggest Threat to Prosperity in 2014?
@Gage, With respect to other teams, my article didn't look into those statistics. • RE: Is a Turnover Hangover the Biggest Threat to Prosperity in 2014?
@Gage Back then, there were far less teams to rank and thus a 9-3 team could be in the top 10 because there were fewer major conferences. Can you imagine a 3 loss team being ranked in the top 10 now? Different times. Different rankings. Different conference alignments. Anyway, I can't …more »

  • RE: Is a Turnover Hangover the Biggest Threat to Prosperity in 2014?
Tom Osborne's first 6 seasons had 195 turnovers. Bo Pelini's had 157. Perspective is what everyone needs: http://www.cornnation.com/2013/12/17/5219920/history-and-perspective-for-the-husker-fan

I don't think who gets in will be much different. In the past we went 1vs2 and vice versa with some mixing and matching thrown in. I think we'll still see that after a few series of 1 vs 1. I have no doubt walkons and 3s and 4s will get …more »

  • RE: What to Make of Jamal Turner at Quarterback
@OU7 Osborne found ways to win AND lose...just like Pelini. Back then, he lost 2-3 games per year until year 9. What you're doing is comparing Tom's last 5 years with Bo Pelini's first 6. It's hardly fair and it's logically unsound. I wrote about what you're doing here and why …more »

Why, let's talk turnovers shall we? http://www.cornnation.com/2013/12/17/5219920/history-and-perspective-for-the-husker-fan How about statistics I posted in the above article that show Pelini led teams turned the ball over less than Tom Osbornes. Enjoy having your mind blown.

  • RE: What to Make of Jamal Turner at Quarterback
@Realista, Labeling Bleacher Report as a credible source is asinine. You gave me a good laugh though. It also tells me all I need to know about you.

  • RE: What to Make of Jamal Turner at Quarterback
@Realista, So, your logic is stupid and wrong. Supporting the coach != accepting 4 losses per year. != means does not equal if you're unfamiliar with logic (which, I suspect you are). it's not black and white. Stop trying to push everyone into a category so it's easier for you to …more »

  • RE: Stewart Mandel Trolls NU Fans Again
As to Missouri and Michigan games, NU won, but they were not dominant in those match ups either. LOL. Roy Helu rushed for 307 yards versus Missouri and we won 31-17 and we sacked Blaine Gabbert 6 times. Don't get much more dominant than that.

  • RE: Stewart Mandel Trolls NU Fans Again
You asked, we answered. Anything else you put out there is simply contrived opinion. Don't you have a 9-5 job out there that you can do instead of coming here and dropping horrible comments about the Cornhuskers in the offseason?

Honestly, I didn't see anything to make me feel good about the secondary last year. I consider it to be our weakest link on last years team.

  • RE: Big Ten Recruiting Roundup: Offense
I agree Darren, this really puts things into perspective. I was very excited about the recruits we did sign and even more excited about the walk-on class...I think Cotton did his best work with the offensive line last year and I'd be interested to see if sacks allowed went down or …more »

Devian Shelton went to USC :( Too bad. I wish him luck trying to get into the starting lineup...they have some good corners there.

Guys, How many 18 year olds did we have on the line? This was their 1ST GAME playing in front of 85k people. Jitters, loss of focus, mistakes, missed blocks, etc. are all a part of something like that. I remember when I started my first game as a FRESHMAN in …more »

@The Devil, Not necessarily. This could be one of the most prolific offenses EVER...it all depends on 2 things (and you agree on both of them in your post): 1. Receivers 2. O-Line I'm not worried about rushing the ball at all...but if that's all we do, we're TOAST. We need …more »

I'm out...Nebraska has lost this game and it's all on the OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR. He lost this game calling it like absolute $H!T. Pathetic. Nebraska is NOT back losing to a 6-6 team they pummeled 56-21 earlier in the season. This is an embarrassment to the program and the coaches.

That's the problem OU7, people are singling Nebraska out here. Like I said, flag Osborne for the hit during the game and I'd be pissed but would say "I see how you could flag him" but not flagging him and then suspending him would be a real snafu (like the Eric …more »

Nebraska will run away with it in the 2nd half and make them look like K-State. We will have over 400 yards of offense. You heard it here first. I'm batting a thousand the last 2 big opponents (Washington and K-State)

  • RE: Husker Road and Thursday Night Game Streaks
I think Texas will be closer for most of the game and then we'll pull away in the end. I say Huskers by 14+ in the 4th quarter. I honestly don't think there is a defense that matches ours nor an offense more explosive in the entire Big 12. Huskers roll …more »

  • RE: Huskers Sluggish in 17-3 Win over South Dakota State
