2010 Signing Day Won't Lack Drama
Editor's Note: Also check out our running coverage of the 2010 Signing Day.
It was sure there would be something to talk about this week, when rumors came out that Brion Carnes committed to Western Kentucky. Then within 24 hours we learned that he remained undecided. Linebacker Lavonte David, seemingly committed to Nebraska, made a visit to South Florida. Safety Corey Cooper and Defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa are also said to be sitting on the fence between Nebraska and other schools.
That's four four-star (or better) prospects that all hang in the balance this week. And until the signed letters of intent come in on Wednesday, Husker fans won't know if they've got a good class or a great one.
Carnes flirtation with Western Kentucky might be the most surprising. Sure, there's a connection between the coach and his high school. But do you really pass up the chance to play in a major conference to play for a Sun Belt team?
Owa will be the major story. He seems like the type of talent that could rival a Ndamukong Suh (as a high school prospect, that is).
There's been some sentiment that Cooper could be the next Mike Brown or that David could be the next Terrell Farley (on the field, you'd assume).
That's quite a collection of standout recruits to be waiting on. Stay tuned. You may not see bigger Husker news until the fall.

"The waiting...is the hardest part." :-)
Let's have a little discussion about the 4 you mentioned - Carnes, David, Owa, Cooper Of that group, which do you think is LEAST likely to be a Husker and which is MOST likely.
I know it is folly to guess on the whims of kids. But, we're just standing around waiting anyway. I say, Carnes is the least likely Husker, David the most. Owa and Cooper are coin flips.

MOST LIKELY -- Owa, David & Cooper. . .
VERY PROBABLE -- Carnes. . .
I think Owa's family is comfortable with Coach Pelini, the program and it's structure in place to assist athletes here, and the fact that someone from Portland has already done quite well. David has familiarity with the program since Hardrick is here and spending time in the Midwest. Cooper because of proximity and frankly we have a bigger upside as a program than anyone else on his short list. ALL will fall on board because this is an exciting style of defense, coached by some superb individuals, capable of developing talent, and with nowhere to go but up. After all it is only year two and we still need guys like these to put things into overdrive. There's a lot to offer defensive personnel at Nebraska. Who doesn't want to be part of the next big thing?
I think we'll end up with Carnes because yeah, maybe he can play right away at Western Kentucky but if he comes here he has a heck of a chance of playing in a lot of Big 12 Championship Games, BCS Bowl Games, spend time in the national rankings, and be a part of a big time program on the national scene. . .

I said it before... but if Carnes doesn't care about winning, then NU doesn't want him anyway.
