CBSSports.com BlogPoll #15
Hope you enjoyed your commemorative trip to the Top 25, Temple. Seeing as how they're the only team to drop out of my Top 25 you know we're reaching the end of the season. Things are continuing to stabilize and the stakes are getting higher.
It'll be interesting to see how high Nebraska can climb in the polls after they beat Texas by three touchdowns. (Sorry, just channeling a little James Brown, there.)

IN
West Virginia. That was a mighty ugly game against Pitt. Almost too ugly to even call a brawl, but at 8-3 the Mountaineers have earned a spot in the Top 25.
OUT
As mentioned above, Temple. You Owls still look sharp in those uniforms, however.
METHODOLOGY
--Not too much to say this week with only one addition/subtraction. It's still Florida/'Bama/Texas and then the three other undefeateds at the top, so how about some assorted college football thoughts.
--I'll admit it, I loved Missouri's stealth helmets. Not such a big fan of "Beast Mode" being the inspiration but they looked pretty good to me.
--I'm an even bigger fan of KU engaging the Tigers in the uniform battle and ditching their New York Giants-lite uniforms for red and blue clown suits. Why don't they go with the Jayhawk on their helmets all the time? I wouldn't call it an imposing mascot but it's a hell of a lot better than a font.
--Props to USC and UCLA for going color on color. I'm sure Keith Jackson approved.
--When was the last time a non-Big East conference championship was decided on a Thursday? That's what we'll have with the Civil War this week. That's some good football for a weeknight. Consider it an early present. I have a feeling it will be just as colorful as most of those you unwrap in a few weeks.
--Speaking of the Pac-10, who do you want the Huskers to presumably face in the Holiday Bowl should they lose to Texas? Stanford would be a rare and intriguing match-up, but I really want the Huskers to face Oregon. That seems like the most fun game to watch. But in terms of statements to be made, USC, despite the fact that they won't win the conference, is still the gold standard there. If you want to maximize momentum for next season and national accolades, play the Trojans.

Brandon,
Good ballot, I agree with the reasoning. Not sure I love Houston all the way up at 9. But, oh well.
We'll have to just agree to disagree on the uniforms, though. I hated the "ultra modern" look that Nike made for 10 teams, including MU. And the KU uniforms were okay. Don't like the idea of them in red. NU = red. KU = blue. And, that helmet is their "helmet of futility" imo. So many losses associated with that. Ouch.
Agreed about the UCLA/UCA color-for-color matchup. That might be the only redeeming quality of that game.
NU vs. USC in the Holiday Bowl. Wow, that would be something. Two name teams, one ascending, the other a bit down but both a huge draw. Still, I'd rather go to the Fiesta. :-)
