To put it bluntly, this has been a depressing week in Cornhusker football. We've had worse losses in the past, and we've had "personnel" troubles before including issues with injury and performance, but it just seems like no good news comes from Huskerland today. It's not all doom and gloom, but for the most part, everybody's down on Nebraska right now.

Huskers dropped from rankings » In one of the biggest poll turnarounds I can remember, Nebraska had a huge surge after the Missouri win, jumping to 15th, then just as quickly getting bounced after the Texas Tech loss. Coach Bo Pelini is having to deal with this drop along with all the other mess of stuff going on right now.

What's a Bo to do? » Bo's problems on offense are now widely known since their ineffectiveness against the Red Raiders. What's the solution according to Coach? Sticking to his guns. Shawn Watson seems to think that the Husker offensive problems can only be cured with experience.

Blake Lawrence concussions sidelines his career » One of the most promising linebackers in a young and talented squad is now going to be a volunteer coach with the team due to numerous concussions over the past few years.

A bone-a-fide gen-uine college quarterback controversy » Can a change at QB fix the offense? Will the change even happen this week? It's likely a game-time decision for Coach Pelini. Everyone has their own opinion, but the players on the team aren't indicating if they've got their favorites. Cody Green might be a good wrinkle this week to defeat the "new and improved" Iowa State defense.

Watson wants a system QB. He grades his QBs and Zac Lee scores well even in the losses. Sounds like an academic decision on who to start, and it's on paper why Lee should remain the starter. Cody Green isn't scoring that well, so it should be a no brainer right?

I'm sorry but that philosophy REEKS Bill Callahan. What about winning games? This offense needs a playmaker, somebody who can make sound judgements when plays break down. Let's face it, offensive breakdowns are a sure thing this year. Zac might thrive in heavy protection (which explains the SunBelt success), but Watson's system produced a zombie when it comes to making judgement calls during breakdowns. I have seen more fire out of Green in his limited action then I have seen in Lee this season. Look at the success Baylor found with starting the freshman QB Griffin, and the collapse of their success when he went down with an injury. The system did NOTHING, a playmaker did. I know Bo wants to believe in Watson, but if I didn't know better I would think Billy C is still walking the sideline.

Two big positives for this week that you forgot.

1) We play Iowa State this weekend, few things change moods easier than solid wins.

2) Big time commitment yesterday from WR/ATH Curtis Carter. Legit 4.37 speed. Recruiting has definitely picked up over the last 4-5 weeks.

Yes, that boy Carter got blazin speed. Too bad that Scout.com probably even upgrade his rating, because they have film on him playing WR in a game.

How do I put Tim Tebow, Blake Lawrence, and concussion(s) in the same sentence? Oh, just did.

Greg Morrow you sound more assinine that Callahan on playing QBs. You probably was in agreement with playing Sam Keller over Joey Ganz in 2007?

When will there be some kind of update on this freshman recruiting class? We know about Burkhead, Martin, Bell. What about that hard hitting linebacker and the corners we have?

Why am I thinking ISU will have a good drive tomorrow and after that it is all she wrote for them?

Pardon?
