ISU's Paul Rhoads Makes Bold Prediction

In the leadup to the opening weekend of college football, head coaches around the country gave opening week press conferences. While much of what was said around the country was typical vanilla coachspeak, one coach got national attention by making a bold prediction - Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads. Rhoads went on the record in saying, "Iowa State will not be unbelievably sucky again this year".
Rhoads, gutsy prognostication got immediate attention. He didn't back off his statement either, as he elaborated. "Our fans are tired of what they've seen in recent years and that ends now". "The Cyclone faithful are going to be able to leave our stadium thinking, 'you know, I have seen a worse team in my life' and 'this is not the most pathetic display of football in the history of the game".
Cyclone fans were cautiously optimistic. Remarked one ISU fan, "I'd like to believe he's right,but then anyone can say 'our team couldn't get beat by a high school junior varsity squad' but you have to back that up on the field. I've let myself buy into that before, only to be disappointed".
ESPN's Kirk Herbsreit had reservations as well, "I know he's trying to change the culture there in Ames, but do you really want to set an expectation for your kids among fans that's not realistic? Are you setting your players up to fail if they can't live up to such big talk?"

Football is a business, and like all other businesses it should be governed by European Law, not by whatever the anti-English crackpots at FIFA want to come up with.

Found this article mid way through November. Now this article seems hilarious, though probably only for the Cyclones fans :) It was a turning point game for I-State to be sure, and you have to feel for a fan base whose team hasn't won an outright conference title since 1903. Looking forward to an actual ISU-Nebraska rivalry in the future. Cheers.
