Here we present the last Big Red Network ballot for the college football top 25 poll for 2008 at M Go Blog. Utah is our national champion, largely on principal but it’s not an enormous stretch either as the Utes dispatched with Alabama more easily than Florida. Let me also restate that I don’t believe you rate teams based on the odds they’d get in Vegas, rather they get the spot they earn. “We won thirteen and that’s all we played� is what Tom Osborne had to say after the 1997 season when both Nebraska and Michigan went undefeated. Only Utah can make that statement this year.
If folks want to argue the worthiness of Southern Cal or Texas over Florida, you could try, but the Longhorns’ close call against Ohio State wasn’t the kind of emphatic statement you look for. The Trojans played well against Penn State, but considering it was basically a home game against a team that traveled three time zones, it’s probably not the exclamation point needed to make a claim for a share of the title.
This may seem like a homer’s ballot with Nebraska at twenty-fifth after being left out of the AP and Coaches’ Polls, but Sagarin ranks the Huskers no lower than 25th based on an unbiased computer algorithm. It may not be perfect, but it also means this isn’t the only poll ranking Nebraska among the top 25.

This ranking just looks right after everything is said and done about this season. One thing about Utah's game is that it felt more like a championship game than Ok.-Fla. this year. I wonder when the BCS computers are going to take our poll into consideration?

Well Steve, I appreciate that you stick by your principles.
Oh and anybody clamoring for playoffs and how "perfect" they are need to consider what we are seeing in the NFL right now. Who had Philly and Arizona in the NFC title game? Nobody...
