The Weekly Buzz
Baylor @ Texas » Baylor's improvement this year has been one of the surprises in the Big 12. No longer the bottom of the barrel, their quarterback has inspired them to new heights of not getting embarrassed. Texas, however, is still a frightening monster. They probably would have won last week had they been playing at home. Look for the Longhorns to bounce back from disappointment with a rout on Baylor, 52-20.
Iowa State @ Colorado » The Cyclones and Buffs are a couple of teams fighting for the bottom. Both offenses are anemic and both defenses are suspect when facing superior opponents. Unfortunately for Colorado, they haven't been able to score against both poor and good opponents and Iowa State has a habit of forcing turnovers. I suspect that Iowa State may come away with this one, 27-17.
Kansas @ Nebraska » Mark Mangino said that his team won't be intimidated by Memorial Stadium. Home field advantage is probably the difference in this game. BRN has already touched on the similarity in statistics between these two teams, but I think as long as the Huskers hold onto the ball, they come out on top, 35-30.
Oklahoma @ Texas A&M » The Sooners need to watch out for the trap game mentality as they might be caught looking to Texas Tech next week. The only team worse than the Aggies right now is the Buffs. I don't think they have a shot at pulling an upset and the Sooners just have to hope they get through this game with no injuries. Every stat points to Oklahoma running away with it. 60-20, Sooners.
Kansas State @ Missouri » Even before the news of Ron Prince's departure, Missouri was favored by 4 touchdowns against this porous defense. Every time we hear of players coming out to “play hardâ€? for their departing coach, it never turns out good. 55-23, Tigers.
Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech » If the Red Raiders were sitting at the cursed number one spot, I would give this game to the Cowboys. But since it's at Lubbock and they've got a couple more tough games to go, I anticipate they will continue with the focus that they showed against the Longhorns. If OSU can make them play their kind of game, it will be a matchup that could be determined by the final play of the game, again. But Texas Tech should keep up that shootout mentality, which works in their favor, 40-37.

Tom,
Your predictions should hold true but as an OU fan, I'm hoping that OSU wins so we can hopefully beat them to get within striking distance for the BCS Championship.
Just curious how Nebraska fans will like the idea of Gary Patterson being K-States coach? The North Div will be even harder to win now, in my opinion.

I guess our local reports (ksn.com and kake.com) were premature on the hiring of Gary Patterson.
Seems he's pissed at the way the whole story broke...among other things.
Dwayne Nov 08 08
In my opinion, I think it is almost a lateral move for Patterson if he did take it. I think he would have opportunities at a program which is much more established and easier to recruit to. I would be surprised if he would take it if offered and a really good get for KSU.
OU7, you didn't have much to say about the NU-OU game last weekend. Just curious with what your thoughts were from an OU fan's point of view...

Dwayne,
I agree with you for the most part about the "lateral" move. I'm just thinking that he WOULD be going to a high profile conference which might make it more appealing. He is also a KSU graduate or at least attended KSU.
As of right now Dwayne, the story seems to be reeking of BS.
OU-NU was all about getting a jump on the other team early. If Bo were to have used some trick plays eary, it might have made a diff. The the fact that there were so many turnovers early made it a different ballgame. Nebraska never got to implement their game plan.
NU was back on their heals and never got a chance to get any momentum it seemed.

I agree and I also think it wasn't real indicative of where NU is as far as a program. I honestly think that the juniors and seniors right now might not have the experience one would hope just because of the way practices were ran under Callahan. And that inexperience was probably brought to light against a very good OU team. Until that depth is re-established can NU really expect anything from any freshmen. I see that taking at least two years to re-establish that. I understand the importance of a head coach keeping his cool, but I also feel people make too much over the politically correct thing to do and the reality of perception. I've always admired someone that has passion in what they do.

Dwayne,
Coach Pelini is doing as well as I had thought, to this point of the season. He is deserving (as most coaches) of his four year run and then an evaluation. Early on before Coach P was hired, I had wanted Turner Gill to be Nebraska's coach and had mentioned it on this website. Eventually I went with consensus and rooted for Coach P to get the job. I really think that Turner Gill would be the best fit and be able to carry on the Nebraska tradition that even foes or at least fans of foes can appreciate.
I do think it's worth a look in about 3 years to compare ther two coaches and their accomplishments. This is not an easy task as some might imagine. The differences in the two conferences would make it real hard to do an "apple/apple" comparison.

At the time, I thought long-term Turner was probably the choice. I like the pick of Bo however. I couldn't complain. I like what he's doing at this point, but still looking for that signature win.

Buffy, that's what Oklahoma trolls pointed out to Kansas, after Kansas doubled up on Buffy Skank. "C'mon, beating Buffy Skank was nothing!"
Buffy, Nebraska has a barbeque ready for your fat futt!
Also, why are you referencing "Buffzone"?
I know that site has more dignity than that!
