Pelini Saluted in Song...Again
Just when you thought you'd finally recovered from hearing the "Bo Pelini Polka", another song inspired by Nebraska's new head coach is making the rounds.
After the jump, feast your ears on "Go Bo."
I'd love to embed this video for you, but it's not allowed so you'll just have to click over but come right back, we have some things to discuss. I'll forewarn, the chorus, while grating at first, is sort of infectious.
I guess we shouldn't be surprised that a song titled "Go Bo" features a pretty simple, cat-mat-hat rhyme scheme. See for example the following lines:
- He's a Youngstown boy and Ohio State grad/Captain of the Buckeyes where he played like mad
- Things have changed back to what it should/One for all and it's awfully good
- You ain't never ever got to go in your wallet/Long as I got rubber band banks in my pocket (Sorry, wrong song, but I like it nonetheless.)
But here's my personal favorite...
- Got this great elation/in the Husker Nation/with....wait for it...EXALTATION!!!!!
So what is it about Nebraska's 28th head coach that has inspired the amateur songwriter to come out of the basement and go viral? Could it be the bulging neck veins? The goofy, deep chuckle that comes out every so often in a press conference? The fact that he's not Bill Callahan?
I like all three of those things about Pelini but if forced to choose one, I'd probably go with that final reason over the others but the spate of Bosongs this season has exposed one thing I certainly don't like about coach: I just wish his name wasn't so easily rhymed and prefixed to words.
That said, good luck getting Gooooooooo Booooooooo out of your head until the Colorado game. Gonna be a looooooooong off-week.

Are you kidding me? This is a joke. Its the music from the old song BIG BAD JOHN.
Changing lyrics and claiming its a new song - really?

You may want to remove this story.
The music used was stolen from the artist Jimmy Dean who won a Grammy for it in 1961. Columbia Records & The University of Nebraska have successfully petitioned youtube to remove the song from their server due to copy write infingment

No offense to anyone on here, but it is funny how new users like myself trust everything that they read hear. Just because youve been a member longer than me does not mean that you are smarter. Please heed all advice before taking :)
