Huskerkill: Chad May
Former Kansas State quarterback Chad May put on a show in Memorial Stadium in 1993. May set a Big 8 record by throwing for 489 yards, but he also threw two costly interceptions that keyed NU touchdown drives that put the game out of reach in a 45-28 Husker victory.
The following year, the Wildcats were optimistic that they would finally end more than a quarter century of futility against Nebraska. The New York Times rated Kansas State as the #1 team in the country going into the game in Manhattan and both Tommie Frazier and Brook Berringer (not to mention safety Mike Minter) were hampered by injuries.
Matt Turman was the starting quarterback for Nebraska. As a result, the Huskers managed only 220 total yards including just 4 pass completions. But that was all the Huskers would need to stymie May’s Wildcats. May was harassed into 22 of 48 passing, with six sacks, an interception, and two fumbles. In the dogpile to recover a fumble, May was poked in the eye and his clear dismay at the act of a bullying by the Husker lineman (Christian Peter, I recall) made it pretty clear that the Blackshirts were in his head. K-State finished with only 6 points that day versus 17 for Nebraska.
"We're all hurt right now," May said. "We expected to come in and win the ballgame, but it didn't turn out that way.
"Everybody is kind of upset, but we have to bounce back against Colorado next week." May went onto say. Oops. The Husker hangover may have hurt the ‘Cats as they were downed by the Buffs (and frequent NU victim Kordell Stewart) a week later.
Bitter in defeat, May wasn’t shy about what he thought of Nebraska, "That team can be beat," May said. "They are going to get beat this year, I know that. It's going to happen, probably in the Big Eight Conference." The Huskers finished the season 13-0 with a national championship while May’s Wildcats played in the Copper Bowl (which has since been renamed the Insight.com Bowl).

I've been searching for the video of him on TV whining about how they played too rough for a looong time. But to no avail. :(

Ha, I remember that game where we beat them with the 'Turman-ator', though I had totally forgotten about Chad May.
Anyway, KSU doesn't seem to be getting much love going into next season, which is not a good thing because they still have Freeman who is going to be junior which is usally when players make a great leap in their performance level.
So, I hope NE doesn't overlook take them lightly going into the game..

It was the 94 game at Kansas State where I realized that we had one special offensive line. Four pass completions with a 3rd string backup, and on the road at the supposedly No. 1 team? A lot was placed on the broad shoulders of the monsters in the pits and they carried MASSIVE responsibility impeccably throughout the game. Maybe we didn't get 600+ yards of total offense but we controlled the ball, used clock, played field position, protected a 3rd string backup making a first career start, no turnovers (if I recall correctly) and as the numbers indicate above turned it over to the Blackshirts to win it for us. Ze, remember, they are the Kitty Kats and I can never talk about them, watch em, or ever mention Kansas State without cracking a smile and saying "Kitty Kats". Thanks always for the laughs bro. . .
To all kickers, QB's & WR's DON'T get caught at the bottom of the pile. Peter brothers or not, ANY Lineman will punch your stomach, gouge your eyes, and do many, many other things to get that pigskin. It ain't pretty down there. . .

I was in the cab of a John Deere tractor plowing a field and listening to the game on the radio. Ahhh, fond memories. Yea, the 'team' made it possible to come out with a win with the Turmanator that day. Mostly just hand it off and we'll do the rest. Nothin' the opposition could do about it even when they knew mostly what was going to be coming.

They asked Tom Osborne to comment on Chad May's allegations that "they (Nebraska linemen) were hitting my private parts" to which Tom Osborne replied:
"football can be a rough game".
I laugh every time I think of that quote!

AAAh, history. That's all some teams have. Never was a big May fan, but still love to hear husker fans defend their team's unethical behavior. Too bad Mike Vick wasn't from nebraska--instead of prison he'd probably receive some humanitarian award. oops, forgot he's black. we know how you rednecks love them blacks.

Geez, is this what NU football has become? Reconing back 14 years to one game? KSU was never rated #1 in 1994 by any reputable ranking organization. I think I would have known that since I was there and am a big KSU fan. Although I haven't forgotten the recent good ole' days when NU football was a doormat I don't dwell on single games (although I could). I'm sure I'll have many more great times watching that dumb ass BoPo lose. Woody Hayes wannabee without the manners.
