Running Back Lester Ward Commits

Texas running back Lester Ward committed to Nebraska and withdrawn his commitment to Baylor. While Ward is only rated a two-star prospect by Scout.com and Rivals.com, Ward had offers from Missouri, UCLA, TCU, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt according to Scout.

At 6’3” and 200 lbs. the Huskers get the kind of athlete that could project to any number of positions including running back, safety, wide receiver, cornerback, or even linebacker.

While perhaps not a huge boost for the recruiting rankings, he appears to be a very worthwhile prospect who could even contribute early.

This is a good get. Why? RB is a need area.

Before you roll your eyes and mention Marlon Lucky and the big committee we have now, remember that we lose 3 backs to graduation next year.

NU needed to get at least 2 in this class. Granted, I don't think Ward was a "Plan A" guy. But, they have two in the barn so to speak. And if we beat out other conference schools for his services, all the better.

He's a nice athlete and he's not a JC, which is another plus. Whether he's a legitmate 6'3" will be found out soon enough.
I'm thinkng he'll play 'backer. It appears that he upgrades the physical profile of this class.

Not many spots left!
