Big 12 Recruiting Roundup: Texas Tech
Texas Tech isn’t getting a lot of love for its class of fifteen recruits. When you only graduate 12 seniors though, you don’t have room to grab 25 or thirty guys. You could criticize the Red Raiders for not grabbing a receiver or linebacker but there wasn’t exactly another position you’d want to steal a spot from either.
You could criticize the four junior college players they took, but three of the four were four-star defensive lineman. The only other four-star player headed to Lubbock is running back Harrison Jeffers.
The fact of the matter is that Tech didn’t have a lot of scholarships to spend but what they did use appears to be spent well. Next year they’ll be able to assemble a much larger class and the rankings will be more favorable. Tech didn’t close the gap on Texas or OU, but they haven’t needed to in order to compete in the conference. So don’t take their ranking at face value. The Red Raiders did fine.

I wish we could have gotten one of the top 3 receivers looking at us. Julio Jones would have made a huge impact at Tech. Now he will just be run blocking for Saban in Bama.
