Big 12 Recruiting Roundup: Texas
The 2008 recruiting class might not be the gaudiest we’ve seen from Mack Brown. But that might be because 95% of the kids were locked up by the end of June (which can impact the attention they get from recruiting services). Only six of twenty received fewer than four stars from Rivals.com or Scout.com and two received five stars (a cornerback and a receiver).
The biggest downer for Longhorn fans (aside from the Sooners crowing about a higher-rated class) might be the face-off they lost with Colorado on signing day for the top running back prospect in the country.
But Texas continues to have an enviable depth chart and they’ve already landed a four-star quarterback commit for 2009. Things may not be perfect in Austin, but the recruiting continues to be as good as there is.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that "95% of the kids were locked up by the end of June". It's probably more like 33% were on probation by June. Yukity yuk.
