Pelini Bans Earrings

According to KETV in Omaha, one policy that new Husker head coach Bo Pelini will implement is that no player will be allowed to wear earrings around the offices. Which begs the question, why?
Perhaps Pelini doesn’t view earrings as professional. Perhaps he views them as feminine. Perhaps he doesn’t like anything that calls attention to the individual when you're in a team environment. Perhaps he’s concerned about players losing their valuables and turning against one another. It reminds you of the scene in full metal jacket where the drill sergeant chews out Private Pyle for his unlocked footlocker, “If it wasn’t for d---heads like you, there wouldn’t be any thievery in the world!” Here’s the full clip to jog your memory:
In any case, it sounds like discipline for the sake of discipline rather than something inherently meaningful. You don’t question a guy with Pelini’s track record on matters of discipline. Still, I can’t say I really understand it.

Big deal. if a kid leaves because he can't wear his bling, then he probably wan't going to be any good anyway...

I suspect the rule was made because earrings look stupid as hell on guys, case closed. Good rule BO! I'm with you 100%

Ahh well unless they are Pirates killing and raping on the high seas, id say men shouldnt wear girlie earings! He must want to defemminize the boys!
