It's official. Tom Osborne introduced Bo Pelini as the Huskers' head coach.

We were also looking for someone who can inspire confidence and get players to play with great effort. And, of course, we also wanted our new head coach to understand our traditions, including the importance of our walk-on program and the importance of football in this state.

I was impressed of what I learned about Pelini "the man" during today's press conference. Can you imagine telling recruits, oh year, I worked 5 years with Pete Carol, a few years with Mike Sherman, and have you ever heard of Les Miles? It sounds like he is going to try to keep the offensive system together (and most likely that means Watson will be retained) and throw in a "few wrinkles". Did anyone say spread option? My only question now...is it too far fetched to think Turner Gill will come back to be OC?

Yes, Turner as OC or as AD is very far fetched.

It seems far fetched to me too, but not too far fetched? Here are some reasons its not TOO far fetched in my mind: Pelini is going to choose someone he knows and trusts...maybe someone he has worked with in the past? I have read how well he bonded with many of the NU staffers during his tenure here (rumors are Ron Brown and Marvin Sanders are on Pelini's short list)...the question is how well did he get along with Gill? From articles I read, he (Pelini) leans toward favoring the spread option (also what Gill runs). As far as Turner goes...what is a better career move, to be head coach at a sub par university, or OC at a national powershouse, and in-line to be chosen as NU's next head coach? Other motivators include: working under TO one last time, coming home to NU and helping re-establish the family dynasty, and a salary increase can't hurt? Turner's wife's family is in Kearney by the way...so it probably would make his wife happy too. Also, I found it very odd that TO met with one of Turner Gill's committed recruits last week??? I found that to be a very odd thing for TO to do to his "best friend"??? Does Bo want Turner? Your guess is as good as mine? But I can only see the upsides for Turner to accept the position, if offered. So...is it far fetched? I guess we will know soon.

I don't think Turner would be "next in line" as OC, Gill is 45, Pelini is 39.

Is TG really that far-fetched to by AD?

I think he would make a great AD. Can you imagine, with his popularity, he would keep the $$$ coming into the University. Keeping the program headed in the right direction.

OC, 30%-70%.

Next HC...not now. Not unless by some freak of nature Bo doesn't work out.

Hey BRN,

Will you guys please put that thread/video back up that was about what our D used to look like. I believe it was before the USC game. It will get everyone fired up.

I am a big Turner Gill fan and a loyal long time cornhukser. However I will no longer follow the husker after once again NU football program turned there back on a loyal coach from the past(Turner Gill) who has served this program with alot of class. Callahan fired several loyal assistants in 2002 then he fired Frank Solich the next year along with several assistant coaches and all the huskers fans and media did was basically say good move. The time is for husker fan to just say enought is enought and follow another team or get involved in a new hobby or something which may even benefit the state.
