Big 12 Bowl Previews: Insight
What’s to say about a bowl matching a .500 Oklahoma State team against an Indiana team that went 3-5 in the Big Ten? I wish I could come up with something “insightful…ha ha ha…ho ho ho…he he he…oh I kill me. But really it’s not hard for Husker fans to find a rooting interest here.
Sure, I might not want to see a Cowboy team that stomped a mudhole in the Huskers in Lincoln continue to build momentum for their program. But a good Oklahoma State team might help hold teams like OU and Texas in check a bit, so maybe that’s not a bad thing.
But really I’d like to believe that a team that can walk into Memorial Stadium and race out to a 38-0 lead has something going for it. Oklahoma State finished the season ranked ninth nationally in total offense and seventh best in rushing. The Cowboys weren’t one-dimensional either, they were in the top 20 in pass efficiency. Hopefully, the departure of their offensive coordinator won’t change that. The defense was nothing to write home about but neither is Indiana’s offense, which brings me to another reason to root for Oklahoma State. The Big Ten is over-hyped and overrated on an annual basis.
I want to see a 6-6 Big 12 team pound a 7-5 Indiana team so badly that no amount of spin can make the Hoosiers appear to belong on the field. If not for dodging Ohio State and Michigan and getting home dates with 1-11 Minnesota and a Purdue squad that also went 3-5 in the Big 10, the Hoosiers could easily be home for the holidays. Instead let them ring in the New Year on the wrong end of a 55-10 blowout.

If OSU wins the Big 12 wins.
Indiana winning would be good considering they lost their coach earlier in the year.
I'll be pulling for OSU.

As much as it hurts to cheer for ANY team that has orange in their uniform, we need to have this conference do well in the bowl season. I am tired of hearing all of the SEC and Big 10 appologists suck up to those two conferences. They are quality groups, and I do my best not to bad mouth others, but the media needs to give them a rest. I have a hunch that once Indiana's emotional balloon is popped, Pokes will roll.
Go Big Red!

Scott, I forgot about Terry Hoeppner. Tragic story, like Randy Walker's.
Gumby is one of my favorite coaches. I don't anticipate him annoying me too much, any time soon. His tirade flat out amused me. Don't mind that.
Of teams with offense-defense imbalances, Okie st. at least has the tough division excuse, though Mizzou and "Rock Chalk" might differ.
Off topic, this is another area I'm glad Osborne acted decisively while not overreacting. That Nebraska has an opportunity to keep pace with it's carry-over offense, it's defense should be so much more improved.
What can teams like Okie st and Texas Tech do?
In Texas Tech's case, we'll find out soon enough, in Lubbock, next fall.
