HUSKER UP: Kansas State

Yes, I know the best the team can finish is 6-6. And, it is hard to get fired up when the team is...well...pretty lousy right now. But, it is the final home game of the season. It's Senior Day. There is a salute to military and veterans. And, Kansas State is in town trying to bounce back from last week's loss to Iowa State. Did their fans bring the power towels? For these reasons, it is time to HUSKER UP.

Salute to Military and Veterans
Regardless of the game outcome tomorrow, there should be some special moments in the stadium Saturday. NU is saluting America's soldiers and war veterans. Regardless of one's opinion of the military action in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is important to support the brave people who serve this country.

If you are going to the game Saturday, give our men and women in uniform an extra loud roar of support.

Thanks, Seniors
Saturday will mark the last appearance in Memorial Stadium for 29 Husker Seniors. From big-name newcomers like Sam Keller to in-state walk-on players like Ben Eisenhart, BRN salutes them all. Thanks for your effort, guys.

Early morning workouts and two-a-day practices are not easy. It's just a shame that their senior campaign turned out this way. I sincerely hope they can go out a winner on Saturday! Beat KSU!

AV Club Presents: 2006
Look at highlights from last year's road win over these same Wildcats. There is a defense and a running game. How in the world did things get to where they are at NU right now? One horrific game at a time, I suppose.

Sure, Steve posted it once already. But, you didn't think I would post without the Power Towel video did you? Seriously, I can't get enough of it. Just when I think it can't get better/worse, I discover something new. It is truly great entertainment.

I hope this "tradition" lasts, so that I can actually pick up a power towel next time I visit the "little apple". What a collector's item.

Cue the band ... play it one more time for those seniors!

I enjoy how prince wants people to be louder to make their stadium the toughest place to play in America are they expecting every person to double in loudness? with 52,200 stadium capacity they are less that half of what the biggest college stadium in America.

And for the willie's chant is their words? or is it just a bunch of ooohhh's and ahhhh's

KU also has a weird stadium and fan scene. Seems they don't even sell out all the time even now when they're winning.

Big Red has had no D line production(with the exception of the TX game), and that is the story of the year.

I think it's a toss up for the game tomorrow vs the Cats and their power towels. I think KSU will win based on their D play and our lack thereof, plus I think they have a clear QB advantage and will be more fired up than Red.

Who knows?

I'm just curious why Nebraska fans even care about that video anyway. I like NU but I just chuckle at the video, that's all. I would hope that an opposing team would, deep down, really enjoy the fact that there is now, real competition in the Big 12. It's nice to see former cellar dwellers doing good. It's not fun playing the Arkansas State's (Baylor)the Utah States(Baylor)and Baylor, EVERY...SINGLE...WEEK. Anyone who does enjoy that is either a sadist or just a plain old bully. Call Coach Mangino, Coach Prince or Coach Pinkel what you will but no one deserves to be held down with a boot on the back of their neck every single year. Better competition surely makes for validity, when it comes to wins.

ou7,

I've said for the last few years that it is refreshing to see other, formerly bad teams have success. I can't imagine what it has been like to be a KU, MO, or ISU fan for all those years--probably like me rooting for DA Chee-cago Bear-zss.

Increasing parity has made cfb much more compelling and every week now there're are a bunch o' games that that I'm watching/tivoing.

Now, I wouldn't mind NE, for e.g., having 8-4 seasons as long as they are playing well and occassionally go 10-2, 11-1, 12-0, 14-0, etc. And I think 8-4 will be more the norm in upcoming years, especially when they go to a playoff system.

Now, how do you feel about OU, are you making an exception there? Can you handle an 8-4 Sooners?

Yes Sir, I've been to the bottom with OU and remember all too well what non winning seasons are like. BUMMER! I do remember you saying before, on previous posts, about other lowly teams doing well. See, winning must be like a crack habit. The more the better. It's just nice to see an easy target like Mangino and Pinkel (who has a bad habit of late season collapses)doing well. I have nothing against Guy Morris but lets face facts, he never had a chance with Baylor. Baylor just should not be in the Big 12. Why would a team want to be in the Big 12 when you can count all of their conference wins on both hands since the inception of the conference?

BTW ZE, I'd like to see Arkansas replace Bayor in the Big 12.

OU7,
Baylor for football, makes no sense. However, there are other sports and I believe Baylor baseball is pretty successful.

ou7,

Baylor should get in the conf. USA or something, I agree. I could see ARK. and their coach Brasil Nutt in the Big XII, 'cept he's probably 'Ghandi' at the end of the year.
