HUSKER UP: Oklahoma State
As loyal readers know, the HUSKER UP series is designed to give fans that bolt of extra energy as they head in to the weekend. It's about getting pumped up for the game on Saturday. After last weeks bloodletting in Missouri, am I really going to put out a "rah rah shish boom bah" post this week? You are darn right I am. Don't delude yourself in to thinking you aren't going to attend, watch, listen to, or somehow follow the game, folks. You know you will. It's an addiction, a sickness, a way of life. Now more than ever, fans need to gird themselves for the remaining season. Steel your resolve. I think the Husker season hangs on the outcomes of these next two home games. Let's HUSKER UP!
Nobody...
Husker fans can take some solace in hearing this kind of candid talk from their head coach.
It's important to understand that no one -- no one -- wants to win more than I do," Callahan said Tuesday before taking questions at his weekly news conference. "It's really important to understand that we as a staff, as a program, as a team, hate to lose. It's important to know that it destroys us emotionally to go through what we did the last week."
I'm glad to hear Coach Callahan just put that right out there. Fans can relate to this because, dang it, we want to win. And, this team will need every ounce of that "want to" in order to stem the current tide they face.
AV Club Presents...The Meltdown
Okay, I'm not going to run another clip from Tombstone, because that seems silly. I'm not going to justify or current defense with reference to past Blackshirt units. And, I can't show clips of last year's OSU game, because the Cowboys won it. So, what am I left with? You know what is coming....Gundy's meltdown. You know you want to see it again.
There was a time when I thought this might be the best YouTube clip, like ever. Then, I grew weary of it. It resembled an over-played pop song. But now it's back again, and I forgot how fun it is. I love how he starts out all mellow and then builds it up to full on yelling. I love how he talks about all of the other people's kids...dropping passes...being called fat. I love when he calls the paper garbage. I love his accent. The way people applaud at the end. Every thing. But, my favorite part is when he says he's a man, and even gives his age. "I'm 40!". Wow coach, thanks for clearing that up. Great, great, stuff.
Cue the Band, Over and Over again
Okay seriously, listen to Hail Varisty and envision toughdown after touchdown being scored. Maybe play it six times. That may likely be how often NU must score to win a shootout with the 'Pokes.
GOOOO BIIIIIIIG REEEED. GO! BIG! RED!

Thanks for the boost Darren.
If you get tired of seeing the original Gundy meltdown video, you might enjoy this Coors Light commercial that features the coach.

I have to admit I have been as down as about anyone. Ball St playing us to within a point and then getting crushed the next week by God know who. Anyway I don't want to go there. If you look on the bright side, and I am trying, we have been beat by two teams that are a combined 9-1 and ranked in the top 11 in the nation. Also that win at WF is starting to look better, they knocked of Florida State last night. And Mizz win over Illi looks better each week as well.
So lets hope this week is the start of something grand.

I've been too lazy to look up the video, so thanks for that, Darren!
Loved it!
I think she's attempted to justify her story (which I never read) and he's expressed regret. It still sends a nice message.
Oh, and the applause as he walks out!
Some have compared him to coaches who've acted crazy. This wasn't a crazy moment. Just a well executed "bitch out." Well spaced, well timed, for maximum effect.
This guy has a future!
