Hype or Reason to Hope?
From NU's new TE Coach Joe Rudolph who spent the past three seasons at Ohio State.
"Nebraska is extremely impressive to me. Talent-wise, I think they're very comparable (to Ohio State). The depth that we're developing here is key, and the players that are out there performing compare very favorably.""I hope they understand how close they are because they are a very talented group. I think it's going to be a fun year."

Coach Speak? I don't really care though, still nice to hear!

Hearing this from a relative newcomer to the team just feeds (or confirms?) my suspicion that NU is back to where most fans want or need it to be, in terms of *talent*.
NOW, the big thing is converting that talent in to wins and championships. And that is why they play the games...
Almost 2 weeks away!

Nice to hear, but I agree w/ Andrew. Coach speak. I'm doing my very best to temper my expectaions...as I think the preseason excitement has me putting the cart before the horse. Never know what's around the corner.

Mel4Red - The GI Independent had a little on Kunalic last Fiday.

Scroll about half-way down the page to the note that starts with "as advertised"

First off, what he said is not really a surprise.
That said, I doubt the depth is the same.

I'd like to know the year of the Ohio State team he is talking about.

I don't know if he said what he believes, because I'm confused, now.
Coach speak? If he said, "we still have alot of work to do", I'd interpret that as "we ain't ready, yet".
I thought I read that he was a strength assistant with the Buckeyes. He's probably seen the Cornhuskers "do work" in the gym and maybe he thinks the players are even in that regard. I'm assuming it's not because of the tightends. It could be the difference of having two Mo Purify type talents, instead of one, or having a younger "BJax" on the team, instead of losing one to the League.
Or, maybe it's just youthful exuberance not yet used to the media fishbowl that is Lincon, Nebraska. (Callahan will clue him in to that.)
Along with the rest of us, I hope he means it and his opinion will be justified.
So, I'll interpret it as, "I love my new job and I'm going to really enjoy this season"!
"And there's no place like Nebraska"!

I misspelled my home town. Doh!
