Ball State will likely be the Huskers get well game after they face USC. The Cardinals have a fairly good passing offense and some decent linebackers. But on paper this looks like one of those games where the Huskers will run the ball 45+ times to spare their quarterback.
There appears to be nothing special about Ball State’s defensive line nor are they able to control games with their rushing attack. So the Huskers should be able to run the ball pretty much at will and then they can pin their ears back defensively and go after the quarterback.
Just as they did against Michigan, the Cardinals could make things interesting. But all that game really means is that Ball State won’t be taken as lightly. That’s helpful to the Huskers win or lose against USC.
