Oh Henry!
The Huskers now appear in line to land the services of 2006 recruit Ricky Henry. His academic situation is no slam dunk which is why he can be considered a commit or not a commit depending on how things progress with his schoolwork.
This flirtation tells a lot about how highly regarded Henry must be by the Huskers. He was the first Nebraska commit to the class of 2006. We’ve seen that the Huskers offer kids at the top of their list early and work their way down. So clearly he was someone they liked. Rivals rated him among the top ten offensive centers nationally that year.
But with two years of eligibility lost to junior college and lingering questions about whether he’d be able join the Huskers, they’re still interested. That tells us that they still like him. They’re not the only ones. Colorado had also offered for 2008.
In a lot of ways, he reminds of Richie Incognito (without the sociopathic behavior, hopefully). Despite all of the big time offensive line commitments already in the class of 2008, the Huskers still would like to have him. That doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily save a spot if his academics are in doubt (once bitten, twice shy), but it does mean that he’s more than just an afterthought or class filler. He’s a real deal prospect that makes a promising group of offensive lineman look even better.

Hmmm - 6'3'' tall, plays with attitude, loves to run block...sounds like a CENTER to me.
And, that makes our new set of offensive linemen pretty "complete" doesn't it? :-)
Hope he makes his grades.

This is all a little one sided, from Henry and his coach. Obviously, Nebraska can't comment on him. But we can!
He'll be a three to play two. If he plays center, or any other position on the line, does he project to pick things up faster than say, a redshirt frosh currently on the team?
I read of a lot of enthusiasm from his side, but where are the results?
Qualifiers once on campus, if they apply themselves, have a clear path to a degree.
Does he have the confidence to work through the curriculum? Sure, you have excellent support, with tutors and such, but they can't take the tests for ya!
We've known about him (as you point out) since the summer before his senior year. He must have known (a long with his teachers and coaches) what was required, to get in.
At this point, he seems a little high maintenance.
Also, if he does qualify (I hope he does) he might be better suited on the other side- again because he's a three to play two guy.
Again, you guys are awesome!
