Levorson Becomes 10th Commit
Crete quarterback/free safey John Levorson came to Nebraska's camp holding offers from Ohio and Wyoming. But after a strong performance at camp, Nebraska offered him a scholarship that he accepted within hours. Rivals.com lists him as an "athlete" while Scout.com calls him a wide receiver. At 6'3", 190 lbs. and reportedly running a 4.55 he could be a safety as well.
Levorson could be the next in Nebraska's long line of Academic All-Americans as he reportedly carries a 3.95 GPA. He was first team all-state and Super State. He rushed for 800 yards as a quarterback and 13 touchdowns while throwing for another 1500 yards and 17 TDs against only four interceptions. On defense he managed 80 tackles, six interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries.
On paper, his measurables look a lot like wide receiver Nathan Swift from the class of 2004 and if he gained another 20 lbs. without losing speed he might be another safety or linebacker like LaTravis Washington from the class of 2007. But you also wonder if they wouldn't consider him at quarterback. A ratio of more than 4 to 1 TD's to INT's, with the rushing stats to boot make him look like a faster Joe Ganz at quarterback.
Wherever he ends up, the other early offers tells you that he is a legitimate Division I-A player and the speed with which he accepted the scholarship offer tells you he's got a passion for being a Husker. That's a good grab for the Huskers.

Good grab it is, Steve!
I like the profile of this player. I don't think he's a "reach" by any stretch, but, I'd much rather see Callahan "reach" for a Nebraska kid, who'll be able to contribute in a lot of ways, than a JC who doesn't contribute much at all, in his two years.

Anybody who still believes these coaches are not placing enough value on in-state talent needs to pull their head out of the sand.
If you have the talent to play at NU, they will come get you. Levorson is a very nice pick up for this class. Great athlete with the ability to play a number of spots. And, as Steve pointed out, he is smart, too.
Very typical of this group of coaches.
