Former NBA Star John Amaechi to Join KSU as Assistant Football Coach

Head football coach Ron Prince made a startling announcement Monday, when he revealed he'd hired former NBA center John Amaechi as a graduate assistant to coach football. "I realize this will be a controversial hire, but I felt we needed to go in a different direction", said Prince, "but a professional athlete will get a lot of respect from today's student athletes".

Kansas State fans had mixed reactions to Amaechi, "It took a lot of courage to do what he did", said one, "moving from basketball to football is a huge adjustment".

"He's just looking to make a buck", countered another fan, "there's nothing courageous about that".

"We don't want his kind here", said another, "he doesn't know the first thing about football, he's British for cripes sake".

"He's exactly what we need at Kansas State", said Prince, "he takes a genuine interest in young men".

New York Giant tight end Jeremy Shockey took issue with Amaechi's entry into the football coaching ranks, and said sarcastically "There goes the next Bill Parcells"
