Big 12 Classes of 2007: Kansas

Considering where Kansas sat in terms of commitments when the season ended, the Jayhawks have to be pleased with how their recruiting class turned out. Sure it's rated 12th in the conference by Scout.com, but after a bad loss to Missouri ended their season, it could have been much worse.

The Jayhawks received 15 commitments after that point including a four-star junior college transfer at safety and a four-star cornerback out of high school. Twelve of the twenty-two overall commitments received at least 3 stars from Scout or Rivals.com. Only three recruits came from the junior college ranks. All things considered, not terrible.

There were eight kids getting two star ratings from both Scout and Rivals and those kids are usually longshots to be BCS caliber players. Between that and the relatively small size, it's understandable that the class wouldn't get a lot of love. Still, I'd rate it above Iowa State (which isn't saying a lot). But where Jayhawk football is concerned, you take what you can get.

I hope the Huskers don't get overconfident regarding Kansas. The Jayhawks have a good coach and pushed the Huskers into overtime last year. There could be a team letdown this year with Kansas scheduled the week after Texas.
