I am excited to welcome the Huskers and 60,000 red clad fans to my residence here in Kansas City! So this is your official "Welcome, and enjoy your stay!"

This is an interesting forecast for many reasons. Bill Randby, a good friend and mentor of mine from KETV in Omaha, and I have been consulting about the forecast. Many people have been concerned about travel. As you may or may not know, Kansas City was hit by a rather unique winter storm the past two days. Wednesday brought nearly an inch of ice to the city. If that wasn't enough, Thursday featured a wild snow event. Snow totals range from a few flurries at the airport on the northwest side of town all the way to over a foot of snow on the south side of town! Needless to say, it was a headache to forecast this week.

Driving Conditions from Nebraska

For Nebraska fans heading to KC from the North: I-29 will be in great shape Friday and Saturday as most of the snowfall stayed south of I-70. The only problems may be near Arrowhead as they picked up close to 5", but road crews will have enough time to get things clear by then.

Driving Conditions from Oklahoma

For Oklahoma fans heading to KC from the South: Heavy snow fell from Oklahoma City all the way to the southern suburbs of KC. I-35 has been difficult travel, but road crews are out working hard to get things cleared up. The later you leave Friday, the better the roads will become.

Numbers to call for Road Conditions

Kansas: 866-511-KDOT
Missouri: 800-222-6400
Oklahoma: 405-425-2385

Game Time Forecast

After you've made it here safely, what kind of weather can you expect?

Lots of sunshine Friday and Saturday. Temps will be hard pressed to get to 30 on Saturday. Winds out of the north and northwest will make it feel even colder!

At Kickoff:
Temp: 24 Wind: NW 10-15 Wind Chill (feels like): 17 degrees

Bundle up. Enjoy your stay in Kansas City. GO BIG RED
