Folks had a lot to say following Nebraska's loss to USC. Here are some selected quotes from players, coaches and fans.

USC Coach Pete Carroll

They went back into their total running offense. I was surprised how they thought they needed to play us. They threw a ton last year.

USC QB John David Booty

Their defense was big and strong, and we had trouble in the passing game and running game. A lot of teams will give up in the second half. It seemed like they kept fighting and weren’t going to call it quits, and made it tough on us sometimes.

USC OT Kyle Williams

We were tired. It was run after run out there at the end. They were some big boys, bigger than what we usually face.

Nebraska Coach Bill Callahan

We wanted to establish the run. We had some opportunities to pass, but overall, we’ll improve there. We felt we could run. You need to be able to run to win championships. Let me be clear. We want to run. On the road, that’s a challenge. But we want to establish the run. It didn’t happen and we’re disappointed and we’ll take a look at it.

Nebraska QB Zac Taylor

I never got into a rhythm. That fourth and 10, I missed that throw. We had opportunities we didn’t take advantage of. We had chances to win, but fell short.

USC Fans

It could've been worse for Coach Bill Callahan. He could've woken up today and still been the coach of the Raiders.

--LA Times

Nebraska’s front seven was absolutely everything it was cracked up to be and the Trojan offense more than held their own.

--SC Football

Well, I think we can say that we did not earn any style points last night. I realize a win is a win but we can do better than that. [...] This was a bigger test for SC than Arkansas was.

--Conquest Chronicles

The Nebraska fans were plentiful, but nothing like they had for the game at Notre Dame a couple of years back. Mostly, they were polite, too. And they knew their shit. We had a few very good conversations with members of the Big Red contingent. Though their knowledge of the game impressed me, the Nebraskan ideal of game day apparel was less impressive.

Nebraska Fans

A conservative game plan probably was a good idea. However, there is "conservative" and then there is what we saw last night. Heck, compared to last night's game plan, Rush Limbaugh looks like Ted Kennedy.

--Husker Mike

Fans expected Callahan to open up the offense rather than attempt to control the clock with the running game. For those upset that more passes weren’t thrown, watch the game again.

--Double Extra Point

I don't care if there is a tornado coming right at my house. They need to get the game back on full screen.

Did all those students outside the stadium have a ticket in hand and were unable to get in because of traffic issues? Or is it a regular occurance for students to show up and get tickets at the gate?

Thanks
Katie

Katie,

I believe a number of seats set aside for USC students are general admission. Students buy "Spirit Cards" before the season and then stand in line for each game to see if they can get in. (Apparently, it is a mad scramble once you get through the gate to grab a seat.)

The USC administration cut back on the number of student seats this season and since this was the first home game (and a big game at that), a lot of folks were disappointed.

At least, that is my understanding. Perhaps a USC fan more familiar with the setup can chime in here?

I guess there's ugly clothes and ugly wins.
