Do we still applaud the opponent?
The new Memorial Stadium improvements resulted in some notable changes to the game day experience. Long-time fans notice that the Huskers now enter and exit through the northwest stadium. This also means that NU opponents now enter and exit through the southwest stadium.
Apparently, the athletic department is worried that this change could bring an end to a long standing tradition of fans applauding the opposing team as they leave the field after each game. If you are on the NU athletic department's email list you probably saw this request for south stadium fans to keep the tradition alive (see below).

If you were at the game Saturday, did you notice if south stadium fans continued the tradition and applauded Lousiana Tech after the game?
I doubt that this email from the athletic department had much impact one way or the other, but this is one Husker tradition that I hope never dies.

As an NU alum, I must say I'm a bit embarrassed that they misspelled "Applaud"

i dont think that there should be any worry. peer pressure alone will keep the north and south aligned.

Steve, N is for knowledge.
How gay am I? I got teary-eyed with the tunnel walk intro. I think the thing that put me over was the "I play for Nebraska" and the Ruud family history. it really symbolic of all great nebraskans.
