Editor's Note: A reader requested an update on how former NU coaches Turner Gill and Frank Solich are doing at their new jobs. So, here you go!
As had been his tradition, Solich starts the season with a two-game win streak including a win over conference rival Northern Illinois. Next up is a trip to improving Rutgers, the Bearcats toughest opponent to date, which could mean the end of the win streak. It doesn't get easier soon as Ohio then travels to Missouri the following week.
Turner Gill suffered his first loss, a 48-40 defeat in overtime (three OT's actually), his second OT contest in as many weeks. Buffalo will face Northern Illinois in a game that might give some measure of the difference between Gill's and Solich's team before they face off in late October.
