A Team in Turmoil?
How quickly things change. Two days ago, the Trojans were anywhere from an 18 to 19 point favorite over Nebraska. Now, amid allegations that Reggie Bush received improper benefits, the line has already moved down to 17.5. The betting public has spoken - this is not good for Southern Cal.
While it's not clear yet if anything will happen to USC's program, there's plenty that could. That means Pete Carroll must spend some time making sure all his ducks are in a row with regard to this scandal (there are sure to be conversations with the athletic director and his assistant coaches). The players have to be wondering whether they could be stripped of past glory or worse, be saddled with sanctions like the loss of post-season eligibility.
And all of this can't be anything but good for the Husker's on Saturday. Sure, you could point to the 1995 Huskers and how controversy only seemed to bring the team together. But this is different, because the action of one player (or a few players) could hurt them all directly, as a team. This brings mistrust, uncertainty, and divides the team. If you bet Nebraska and locked in the 19-point spread, you've got to be happy about that. Not that you should be betting, of course.

Yeah, SC would be a lot better off had Bush just dragged his girlfriend down a flight of stairs - Don't worry about us we'll be fine.

You mean because he might have been suspended for six games (costing him the Heisman) and would not have played when he clearly should not have been eligible?
