It Aint Over ‘Til It’s…Halftime
Everyone knows that Tiger Woods is an exceptional golfer. Those who follow professional golf also know that when Woods leads after three days of a four-day tournament, he wins. His record is 12-0 in major tournaments when he holds a three day lead (and he has yet to win a major where he didn’t hold the three day lead). It sort of makes the fourth day irrelevant from a fan’s perspective.
Bill Callahan has a similar record as the head football coach at the University of Nebraska.
In Callahan’s case, his team is undefeated when leading at halftime and has yet to win a game when trailing at the half. Appropriately, when the halftime score is tied, the results have been split.
Making matters more challenging for the Huskers in 2005 was a tendency to let the opposing team score first. The Huskers had to come from behind in many cases just to tie the score or to take a halftime lead. If Callahan runs true to form again in 2006, then the Huskers are going to have to learn how to start quickly, or else a division or conference title may again be out of reach.
So among the things to watch for in the season opener will be how quickly the Huskers are able to get on the board. Because as Tiger Woods has shown time and again, you never have to recover from a good start.

About Eldrich,
"Everyone knows that Tiger Woods is an exceptional golfer." BRN
Not everyone knows that he is an exceptional jackass. His on and off course conduct is less than "majorly" impressive. He cusses like a sailor, often caught during live broadcasts. He slams his golf clubs into the ground, a cardinal sin in the game of golf.
His golf game is hard to beat but his demeanor is not.
