Fumblerooski Banned in the USA

Fumblerooski
It's official. From now on, the Fumblerooski will be as hard to find as a stiff drink during prohibition.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (TNFSHSA for short) put the final nail in the coffin this week by banning the trick play in all high school football games starting next season.

The play was made famous by Tom Osborne and Dean Steinkuhler in the 1984 Orange Bowl (video). Will Shields was the last college football player to run the play in the 1992 Husker win over Colorado. It was banned by the NCAA after the 1992 season and had been banned in the NFL since the 60's.

With this decision to bar it from high school games, fans will have to get their fumblerooski-fix elsewhere (like Pop Warner or back-alley games).

It's a sad day indeed.

Question: Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I'm thinking Nebraska ran the Fumblerooski against OU in a game in Lincoln, down by the goal line, before they so famously ran it against Miami.
Does anyone else happen to remember that? Or am I going senile? :-)
